Earlier this month we were instructed to install an L3 Fire Alarm System for NDLT who have been based in Corby since 1988.

The previous manual system served them well for a number of years but the latest FRA advised the installation of an Automatic Fire Detection system. After surveying the site we recommend the installation of an L3 system, A BS5839 Classification L3 system is similar to a category L2 system, automatic fire detection should be positioned on escape routes and adjoining rooms, although it does not have to include additional areas deemed to have a high fire risk.

Our system of choice was C-TEC’s CFP two-wire 4 zone AlarmSense fire panel which is designed to work with Apollo’s AlarmSense range of detectors, call points, sounders, and visual indicators. A total of 30 devices were installed and the system has transformed the fire safety of the site, ensuring that everyone in the building can have peace of mind that, should a fire break out, they will be warned immediately and can plan an escape route.

Current UK fire alarm regulations state that all business premises must have ‘an appropriate fire detection system’ but the number of commercial premises that do not have the correct Fire Safety systems in place is scary. In the event of a fire, a proper fire detection system increases response times and protects your assets from the spread of the fire. Furthermore, a well-maintained and tested fire alarm system can lower your insurance costs, decreasing your overheads.

On completion, the site team was trained on how to operate the system and issued with their log book to keep a record of the system’s test results. Most importantly the feedback from the client was positive who thanked us for our work. Another successful FA Installation, Great work team!
