Police Response Alarms

Police Response Alarms are not offered as part of our service.  Unless you have a real need or are pressed into it by an insurance company.  The risk must justify this course of action, but we would avoid them as they are;

• expensive to install due to the design requirement.
• Ongoing high expense to monitor again due to the design requirement.
• More expensive to maintain due to the insurer’s requirement.
• You MUST have a keyholder who can be on site within 20 minutes of the call being received.
• Outwardly, to the intruder, they would look no different to a non-police response alarm installation.
• There is no guarantee that even after you have paid out all the extra costs that you will actually get a police response.
• It’s you who goes into the property first, not the police.
• False alarms can become expensive and are the route the police take to take you off their “response” service.
• After false alarms lose your status, you will usually have to invest more money bringing the system “back up to standard.

As a minimum specification, the alarm you install should have the option to notify you upon activation. You can add your designated key holders, friends, or family.  It’s a simple process to program numbers, and you can easily change them as your needs change.

Even many older legacy systems without a dedicated smart app can be added to the cloud, so you can arm and disarm via your device, from anywhere in the world with an internet connection, and receive notifications of alarm actions, or who has set or unset the system from their app!  This new tool for Pyronix Smart PCC is now available

Why have an alarm?

Research by criminologists and professionals found that burglars said that a home with an alarm fitted was a less likely target. Although an alarm is a good deterrent, you should also aim to achieve a high level of physical security. In fact, installing physical security deterrence equipment should be your primary concern.

It’s all very well to have a state-of-the-art alarm system, but if you are burgled and later found to have missed locking a door or properly securing a window, you may find your insurance company is not quite so understanding.  Remember, your insurers will do everything they can to avoid paying out on a claim – as this affects their annual profits!
