This month we completed the installation of x10 Sevadis MaxiChargers for a commercial client in Milton Keynes.
After an initial site survey, it was established that our client was looking for a professional solution to offer their staff and fleet three-phase EV Charging. Based on our experience, we turned to our tried and tested commercial preference of the Sevadis MaxiCharger which we knew would fulfill their current requirement as well as offering them solutions to expand and develop the system in the future. After submitting our proposal our client agreed and asked us to proceed with the installation!
We started by notifying the local DNO of our planned connections and the work involved which they agreed to. This is an essential part of the process as without their approval the project cannot go ahead. Over 5 days, our work included running a 95MM SWA to the site electrical incomer to feed a 12way Hager TP DB dedicated to supplying the EVCs, connecting a Sevadis ALM to control and load limit the EVC Network, 140M’s of 6MM 5CORE SWA to feed each charger, 18M’s of tray work for the cables and finally the x10 MaxiChargers amongst other enabling works.
Fortunately, this building has a large Solar PV system as well as a large three-phase electrical supply to support the charging network meaning vehicles can benefit from three-phase charging.
Our Solution
The MaxiCharger is a smart wall-mounted single-outlet, universal Type 2 socket EV charger. It is OCPP 1.6 compliant and has built-in PME fault detection on single and three-phase connections and both static load management and dynamic load balancing capabilities.
It is available in three attractive finishes: silver, black or white. The MaxiCharger is robust, aesthetically pleasing, and suitable for all environments. It charges up to 7.4 kW on a single-phase connection and 11 kW/22 kW on a three-phase connection.
One of the most important aspects of this installation was the Sevadis ALM unit. We quoted for this project to take up to 1 week which included the first fix, second fix, and commissioning, thankfully the project was completed on time and within budget! It’s fair to say when it comes to EVCs we know what we’re doing. The engineers have done a great job on this install!
Government Grants
By choosing MMV our client was able to take advantage of the Infrastructure Grant scheme saving a large sum of the total cost of the installation. You need an OZEV authorised installer to claim the OZEV electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint grants.
This grant is for small and medium-sized businesses. An EV infrastructure grant gives you money off the cost of wider building and installation work that’s needed to install multiple Chargepoint sockets. The work can be for sockets you want to install now and in the future. For example, an EV infrastructure grant can cover things like wiring and posts.
The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £15,000. You can get:
- up to £350 per charge point socket installed
- up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure
- You can receive up to 5 grants across 5 different sites.
