On this week’s episode of “Service of the Week” we’re going to discuss all things Installation and Maintenance of…𝘾𝘾𝙏𝙑 𝙎𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨🎥
Like Access Control, this is a core service of ours and a staple for MMV. We’ve offered the supply, installation, and maintenance of Access Control systems since we began trading in 2004, with experience amongst our team going back 25+ years.
We’re in the age of “Smart Homes” when DIY surveillance kits have never been more accessible and like everything, they have their place and a customer base but they will never replace a CCTV system installed by the professionals.
Over the years CCTV has come in many forms, more recently being a set of cameras connected to an NVR directly or via a switch on the network. An NVR is a physical piece of equipment that records video from IP cameras, but as time and technology progresses Cloud systems are becoming more and more present.
Cloud-based video surveillance works by transmitting video data over the internet to store footage in the cloud. The ‘cloud’ is simply a remote server where video data is stored—as opposed to being stored on a local server or hard drive.
At present Cloud-based systems still have a long way to go, and they’re not quite ready to replace a conventional system. Fortunately, we offer a wide range of solutions to fulfill both requirements.
While most cameras offer a pretty good standard of image from the cheapest to the most expensive, the difference is in the VMS and management of your footage through the software. This is what divides the very best systems from the not-so-good ones.
We install systems for both domestic and commercial clientele, depending on their budget/requirements we propose one of two manufacturers, Dahua or Avigilon.
As stated above, both offer fantastic image quality and if you were to put the two side by side, there wouldn’t be a lot in it, but what makes the difference is the Video Management System “VMS” behind them both.
VMS software, which stands for “Video Management System” software, is a program that allows users to centrally manage and monitor multiple surveillance cameras, including live video viewing, recording, storage, and analysis, essentially providing a single interface to control an entire security camera network across various locations.
While we’re happy to install and/or maintain a range of manufacturers, we tend to work with the two mentioned above, which cater to best to our clients. In our opinion, Dahua’s Digital Surveillance System (DSS) is the best of the budget-conscious brands, and Avigilons VMS is one of the best on the market.
The great thing about CCTV systems is that they can be completely tailored to the client’s requirements with few limitations. When a client comes to us looking for CCTV we always schedule a site survey, this helps us understand the site, the client’s requirements and identify the areas we feel would be best to install cameras.
With our knowledge and experience on CCTV, we will propose what we feel best while taking into consideration any specific requirements and existing systems you have in place.
Once installed, the maintenance of your system is quite simple. We recommend systems are serviced once a year to ensure it is functioning properly, providing clear footage when needed, deterring potential security breaches, and extending the lifespan of the system by preventing costly repairs due to wear and tear; this includes checking camera alignment, lens cleanliness, recording quality, and inspecting cables and mounting brackets for damage.
